Dear Sir or Madam,
Volunteer Day 2010 – Save the date and Join Us!
June 5 2010 is the Hunters Point community Youth Park Annual Clean-Up, and you are invited to participate and help us make a difference in our community!
About the HPCYP:
The HPCYP is the primary child-care program for the underserved Hunters Point Neighborhood, where hundreds of low-income families live in government-subsidized housing projects. The Youth Park provides a safe haven for the children of the community providing a place where they can learn, grow and just be kids.
The Youth Park is open year-around providing full day programs in the summer and after-school programs during the school year. Through the Youth Park, the children of Hunters Point have the opportunity to take a variety of classes, participate in arts and craft program, and receive tutoring. As many of the children have never been past the confines of their of their neighborhood, let alone across the Golden Gate Bridge, the Youth Park provides an invaluable service to the community, giving children who would otherwise have nowhere to go, an enrich environment where they are safe and cared for. Amazingly, the service the Youth Park provides for the children and their families are free of charge. The Youth Park is funded by various grants, and while the number of children attending has increased, the funding has not. And this is where “YOU” come in!
Our Project
The dedicated people who run the programs at the Youth Park desperately need our help to clean up, and repair and paint the large playground and two buildings that make up their facility. The building exterior, interior and playground all need a fresh paint job, there weeding and gardening to do and the playground sand needs sifting so that it is safe for the children to play in. In addition, we also need a few “handy person” to help repair a few fences, building exterior and other misc. things. Our project is so big that we need 150 people to pull it off so we guarantee there is something for everyone to do.
We very much appreciate your past contribution and hope you can continue to support HPYP. If this is the first year you have received this letter, we hope you join us in supporting these important Programs. All donations are greatly appreciated and responsibly administered!
Thank you for your consideration we look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me directly at 415.760.5345.
Sincerely,
Mattie Plummer
