Junior/Associate Graphic Designer
Reports to: Manager, Production and Editorial Support

Practice members are responsible for cultivating and fostering a collaborative, innovative culture. One of the major aspects of our team is the Production and Editorial Support group which is an essential factor in the day to day "freshness" of the sites and customer experience.
The Associate Graphic Designer position represents a creative opportunity for an individual interested in working in a fast-paced environment.
This position is a temporary, full time position (40 hrs/week) with the possibility to become permanent. The designer will assist with the daily production as well as create web-ready graphics, process photos, page layouts. The Production and Editorial Support team is responsible for all art requests coming from Editorial.

Day-to-day activities of this job include:
Create, modify, size, and color-correct graphics and images using Photoshop.
Production and optimization of graphics for web.
Work on multiple, simultaneous projects from beginning to end.
Collaborate with other designers and explore areas of personal interest.
Working on various in-house design projects and providing day-to-day assistance to other designers as necessary.
Updating and archiving project files and indexes.
Sourcing stock imagery.
Help gathering, evaluating, and incorporating online user statistics.
Using Illustrator to create infographics to support editorial content.


Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: BFA or equivalent in graphic design.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and juggle multiple projects.
Team player who can take art direction from other designers and managers in the team.
Must be willing to participate in brainstorming sessions with designers as well as editors.
Highly organized and have excellent communication skills.
Expert knowledge in design software including Photoshop, Illustrator, ImageReady.
Knowledge of current media technologies and their relevant applications.
Working knowledge of InDesign and Flash (and motion graphic design) a plus.
Knowledge of designing in an html environment is a plus.
Designing interactive components using Flash and other motion media is also a plus.
Experience working on Mac OSX a must; experience with Windows platform a plus.
Experience building informational graphics, charts, maps a plus.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript and ActionScript a plus.
Strong design and typographical skills; strong attention to detail; portfolio review required.
