Senior Underwriter – San Francisco

The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Underwriter in its San Francisco, CA office.The ideal candidate should demonstrate advanced proficiency in all technical and marketing areas of including: property, liability, and auto, workers' compensation, umbrella. Demonstrated success with managing pricing strategies, compliance issues, producer management, and negotiating skills are required. Candidate must be a strong communicator with a track record of achieving goals. The ability to contribute to the immediate success of the group is essential. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of commercial Underwriting experience. Position Description: This underwriter will be responsible for managing a $8 million book of business for the San Francisco/Northern California territory. Lines of business include package, automobile, umbrella, international, and workers' compensation. Execute department business plan; specifically to achieve growth, rate and profit objectives. Manages key producer/broker relationships in territory, markets and retains existing accounts in order to achieve premium growth and profitability objectives. Additional responsibilities include developing and maintaining strong agency relationships, creating business plans for assigned agents, developing prospects, and working effectively with other underwriters, OSD, Claims and Loss Control. In addition, the underwriter must work effectively with their assigned Underwriting Associate in areas such as coaching, developing and maximizing capacity in order to effectively underwrite and produce new business as well as work on a renewal book. The underwriting role of this position is significant along with the importance of maintaining the strong leadership position that Chubb enjoys in the local market.Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
