Sr. Systems Administrator (Applications) – San Francisco

We are looking for a proactive, passionate System Administrator with the ability to dig into system administration issues that will include how search applications can effectively scale in order to accommodate an ever-increasing user base. You will have the opportunity to work with a lot of very interesting leading-edge technology, as well as have the pleasure of working in a get-it-done, non-political environment.



We are seeking someone with the following skill sets:

- Experience in a 24x7 web site environment, in which servers going down is not an option

- Ability to deal with issues with applications traversing thousands of servers (i.e. when you add a lot more users to the site, what kind of effect that has on applications running these servers)

- Strong experience with distributed computing and/or distributed file systems

- Strong experience with Linux (preferably RedHat) or Solaris

- Experience with working with hundreds of servers. (An alternate option would be experience working on a cluster of 20-50 servers all processing the same application, i.e. search)

- Strong experience with redundancy, and an understanding of issues such as hot-swapping

- Experience with load balancing & load distribution

- Top-notch communication skills
