Description
This hard-to-find 1917 Steinway Long A (6' 4 1/2") grand piano has a beautiful, "flame mahogany" cabinet. If you visit the Steinway website, there is a wood sample they list in their Crown Jewel Collection that is called African Cherry (Makore). The grain on our Long A is nearly identical in color and pattern to the Makore sample they show. Any way you look at it, this piano is stunning, even prior to any restoration work.
The Steinway Long A was only built from 1913 to 1945 and has become one of the most sought-after vintage Steinway models ever built. At nearly six and a half feet in length, this model produces a full, rich tone and is often compared to the slightly larger B.
In its current condition, the piano has a very powerful, rich tone and plays very well; however, this instrument really deserves to undergo a complete restoration to bring it to its full potential. Once this piano has been professionally restored, it will be among the finest Steinways you could hope to find!
We are willing to sell this piano for $18,000 in its current condition and you are welcome to choose your own rebuilder. If you would prefer, we can have the piano restored for you.
